Importing Motorcycle

Have any of you imported a motorcycle from Canada to The US? I know someone that is interested in having me try to sell a newer (95-98) model XL on ebay. Is it very difficult to do? My preference would be to have the buyer complete the arrangements as much as possible. What is required of the seller? Thanks folks, you are always such a big help.

Can't identify fitment. Can anyone help?

Hello all. I am interested in an auction currently on. I have contacted the seller to try and find out what years/models this kit fits, but they are not sure. The part number for the kit is 53574-93. It's a complete lock kit for Harley FLs. Does anyone know what all years this kit will fit? Thanks in advance. Here's the auction number: 1876299758.

Beware!! If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is!!

I usually do not do this kind of thing but this has me concerned. As an independent motorcycle dealer who lists a number of bikes on Ebay and sells bikes elsewhere via the internet I had to make this comment. I have noticed over the last few months several bikes where the seller has a ridiculous price, like a pristine 98 Fatboy for $8000 USD, a 2003 V-Rod for $12500 and there have been others, they all ask for deposit money wired to an account, sometimes to another country, with the remainder due after delivery. All I am asking is that you beware of who you are dealing with, ask questions, get information, spend the extra $65 to have the bike checked by a local shop, if they do not agree, that is the first red flag. I can not count the number of winning bidders who have not even emailed me before hand, fortunately they are dealing with a person who is straight up and not trying to scam. Just beware if it is to good to be true, it probably is. Thanks for listening and BEWARE!!!

Your Word is Your Bond - or what?

I was buying a bike from accjpl(149). He has good Feedback. I have a job, work long days, and cannot hang on ebay, and I wanted the bike. I asked him for a "Buy Now" price, he agreed, and I responded and agreed. Then, two other bidders started to escalate the bidding. This seller ignored me, and eventually gained $22.89 above my bid of two previous days. My question is: Does any biker out there still believe that once you give your word, that you are good to go? Or, just wait for a better bid?

Orignal From: Your Word is Your Bond - or what?

What would you do??

Hey all, just trying to get some ideas from some here on the BLVD. I purchased an item #1872472830 (a reserve auction, buyer to pay actual shipping charges...) from a seller on eBay(auction ended Nov 18). When the auction ended, I sent out an e-mail from myself to the seller. I was real cordial, stated that I'd won the auction, asked for a total on where I wanted the item shipped to. The seller didn't respond for a couple of days, and only after I sent another e-mail thru a current auction that he had listed. When I finally got the total from him, I got a money order, sent it out to him, then e-mailed him and asked for him to contact me when the m.o. arrived. A holiday was in the middle of when I sent out the money order and my next e-mail from the seller. I got an e-mail from him asking if I sent out the m.o., and if I was going to....(Nov.29)(I'm starting to get a bit worried about this seller now). I restated the m.o. was on its way, and that I wanted the seat! He finally said that he recieved the money order and would have to box the seat and send it out,(Feedback left for me around this time). Now this is about 2 1/2 weeks after the end of the auction(Dec 4). I sent an e-mail on Dec 13 asking if the seat has been shipped and how(UPS,USPS). As of early Dec 14, it still wasn't shipped! Finally, Dec 15 it got shipped thru USPS. The seat arrived on Christmas Eve Day, almost five weeks after auction closed. The shipping price that I was charged was $32.50 and what was on the shipping box was $10.12! I e-mailed the seller on Dec 25, asked him about this, to no response, I'm beginning to feel like I am being ignored. I re-sent the last e-mail on Dec 29, and was real cordial, and got a response from him stating the price he quoted me was thru UPS, but he decided to ship thru USPS, he then went on to state that I got a good deal on the seat, and that he paid more for it when he bought it. Dec 29, he stated that he'd refund $15 of my shipping price, the rest, he says is for boxing and handling charges. I as of Jan 19 have not recieved a check from this seller as stated by him....I have not left feedback for this seller ..... I am leaving him plenty of chances to rectify this situation, and he is basically telling me, too bad so sad! What would you do??

Laughlin River Run

Ok. You can't believe everything that gets e-mailed to you but you can't discount it in its entirety, either. Excerpts from several e-mails I received follow, and while I believe they were intended to be inflammatory, I also think that any rider considering the River Run should know that it could be more hassle than fun. ********************************************** ..."...alerted the lobbyist that a stakeholders meeting was being held on March 25, 2003, with Laughlin's Chamber of Commerce and the DPS regarding the up coming River Run. "Lt. S. stated "We want to send a very clear and convincing message that the patch wearers are not welcome in Laughlin." NO COLORS means ANY and ALL patches i.e., CMA, HOG, (any insignia on leather). Club T-shirts are iffy and up to the individual casino if they will be allowed. "The Laughlin Sheriff recommended that the hotels ban colors and if colors are worn they will be confiscated and not returned. All casinos and hotels with the exception of the Riverside will be enforcing the NO COLOR policy in one form or another. The vendor's area will not allow colors, nor will the bars. "Colors are only allowed in hotels rooms and on the street. It was made clear that police are there to protect the business owners, their customers and the police themselves. "Lt. S. went down his list of police presence that will be visible during the run. 20 motor cops, swat teams, helicopters, dogs, 40 California Highway Patrol, 150 DPS, special ops, 200 intelligence cops from around the world who track motorcycle gangs and several jail buses. "Lt. S. described his entire plan to be geared toward "prevention" and went down his list of police presence that will be visible during the run. He plans to have everything from motor cops, to swat teams, to helicopters, canine units, California Highway Patrol, officers from Las Vegas Police,150 DPS, special ops, 200 intelligence cops from around the world who track motorcycle gangs and several jail buses on hand and ready to go. Each hotel and casino will have its own assigned unit, which will include officers in the casino surveillance. "... Lt. S. went on to say that if any person that was part or associated with the incident in 2002 shows their face in Laughlin they will be hunted down and hit swift and precise. The jail buses will be standing by to shuttle detainees to the Las Vegas jail. Snidley's motto was have an attitude you'll go to jail. Snidley said that specific targeted groups would not be allowed to ride in mass in Laughlin. "Laughlin generates $20 Million during this weekend. They want our money but they don't want us. They feel that this is Laughlin's Run, not the motorcycle communities run. " Attending the meeting was Lt. S., Laughlin DPS, , members of ABATE, a CMA, Star Rider, Route 66, vendors and shop keeper. ABATE were the only ones present who were concerned about our rights. The others were glad to hear that the police would have such a forceful presence creating a feel safe environment. ******************************

Why so many fake Goldwing / Trike ads?

Ok, I'm new at this, just started. I've been looking for a 2000-2006 Goldwing, maybe to convert to a trike. I have a good idea how much it all costs and worth. I'm wearing out my fingers reporting bogus ads to Ebay. You don't list a buy me now price of $5000 on a trike that is worth $30,000 and take a 25,000 loss. I've seen a trike sell in Jacksonville for $28,700 and show up listed again in MD, TX and this week in CA...the same photo's and words in the ad as Jacksonville. Right now there are 5 bogus ads in a row under Goldwings. You don't sell a 2006 bike for $4000 and not even list the location. It doesn't pass the smell test....This makes it very hard to find or trust anyone. Doesn't Ebay look at these and check for obvious fakes ?

Low BIN prices, and eBay's liability

I'm currently looking to purchase a Suzuki GSX-R 600. Now, when I click on Motorcycles>Suzuki>GSX-R I see ton's of listings... Naturally the cheap ones that look really nice catch my attention. Now here's the thing. I see a bunch that have "buy it now prices" of like $2900 for 2005 model bikes with really low miles. Personally, I stick to the "If its too good to be true... it is" ideology, because this simply isn't possible. No one in their right mind would ever undervalue such beautiful machines. Now my question is... how could eBay allow for such outright scamming and/or flooding of the sportbike sections with such fraudulent ads? Now I know anyone with a (0) by their name, is untrustworthy, but some of these people have some positive feedback. I understand that eBay protects me on any vehicle purchased online below $10,000 which basically covers all of these machines... but now I'm just worried about being scammed. Does anyone have any suggestions or possibly some tips on finding the right bike on eBay without getting screwed? Thanks a bunch everyone. Chris

Harley's York workers go on strike

Harley's York workers go on strike February 2, 2007 - BizTimes Daily More than 2,700 union machinists went on strike at Harley-Davidson Inc.'s manufacturing plant in York, Pa., this morning. The members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) voted Wednesday to authorize a strike after rejecting the company's contract offer, which would have reduced pay for new hires, required employees to pay part of their health insurance premiums and forced concessions in pensions. In anticipation of the strike, Milwaukee-based Harley shut down production at its York plant, which is the company's largest. York workers said the company's contract proposal was a "betrayal" to the workforce. "Harley-Davidson has no business behaving like they're on the brink of bankruptcy," said Tom Buffenbarger, international president of the IAM. "When Harley was flat on its back in the 1980's, it was union members who refused to let it die. Harley went on to become an international success story but they've obviously forgotten how they got this far

No VIN frame?

I just recently (today) won an auction for a CBR 900rr frame. The listing said "no paperwork" so I sent a question about it to the seller. I asked if there was any reason (lein, stolen) I couldn't petition the state (Ohio) for a title. Only response I got was "no numbers". First thought was red flag but then I remembered that Hondas put the VIN on a sticker and it was removed when the frame was polished. I bid on it and won. Figured $50 was worth the trouble to get a title. Since I told the guy I'll pick it up in person, I haven't heard back yet. Sound fishy to you folks? He's got 100% feedback. I think I'm going to give him a day to contact me and then I'm moving on to another one. Thoughts?

Local guy from here set a record in 250 cc class. Bumped the 110 mph record to 128, recorded 128 and 129 on the runs. LAND SPEED MOTORCYCLE RECORD SMASHED..TWICE!!! Ack Attack a dual Busa based streamliner bumped the old Easyrider record up to 342 or 344. The Easyrider record held for 16 years!! Later that day another streamliner piloted by I believe Chris Carr broke the new record a few hours later, still in the 340 range..

Virago gearing

Does anyone know if I can change the final drive unit on this 1991 Yamaha Virago 1100 with some other Yamaha, maybe a venture, to get a little higher gear ratio? This bike is just geared too low for comfortable interstate cruising with stock unit. I would like to be able to drop rpm's by about 500 at 70mph. I've already counted teeth on a v-max, it is geared a bit lower...won't help me. I've checked with a couple of salvage yards, seems like nobody knows much about ring and pinions for Yamaha gearing. I would appreciate some help, thoughts, maybe even an opinion...thanks anybody.

Off topic tech question

I have a question for anyone who cares to answer. I guess this could also apply to motorcycles. My '81 ski-doo Everest 500E fan cooled twin fouls the fan side plug frequently. I tried a hotter plug and switched from NGK to Champion with the same result. I was using a B7 resistor plug and went to a B8. The Champ was the equivelant of the B8ES. The engine has a points type ignition. After fouling, I can insert a new plug and everything's fine. That's why I think it isn't the coil or the rest of the ignition system. Although, I could be wrong. The engine has 120 psi on the fan side and 128 on the other.Single carb, so It shouldn't be a carb problem. Again, I could be wrong. Any suggestions? Thanks, Gomer

Ghost Rider Nicholas Cage

I saw the movie Ghost Rider last weekend, wasn't bad, entertaining. The motor cycle Nicholas Cage (The Ghost Rider) rides is about a 90% replica of the original captain america bike in Easy Rider 1969. The paint was the only noticable change. I thought it was a cool tribute to pay to the original Captain America Bike. TimeLess. A flameing skelton in leather on a big chopper was pretty cool too.

Bought a Honda CBR1000RR on eBay, undisclosed problems...

I really don't appreciate dishonest sellers. Bike is basically OK, but several obvious undisclosed problems, cost about $200 to fix. There is no question they were intentionally omitted. There were plenty of pics on the auction, all carefully omitting the problems. This was from a used car Dealer in Alabama. Seller won't return my calls, won't leave feedback until I do. yamaha final drive ratio

I'm still searching for answers. Does anyone have ratio numbers for yamaha final drive units? I would really like to gear this 1100 Virago just a bit higher for a more comfortable cruise. I know that some units don't have a threaded hole for the shock...not a problem..I'm a machinists. Does the unit on a venture have the same ratio as a virago? I counted the teeth on an old one from a salvage yard that was "supposed" to be a venture, it was geared lower. Maybe I was handed something else, might have been an Edsel or a Studeabaker. I would surely appreciate a little help, thanks...hillclimber

Daytona Trailer Week 2007

Thursday 03/01/07- Replaced rear tire on the bike, changed the oil, and replaced the sidecar windshield. Bike looked pretty nasty (green slime, dirt, etc.) so I got out the power washer and hit it good. Friday 03/02/07- Left the house at about 7:00am. Kinda cool out (high 40's/low 50's) so I dressed warm. Totally uneventful ride to Panama City, FL, where I spent the night at a friends house. Saturday 03/03/07- Left P.C. around 7:00am. Cool again so I dressed warm again. Stopped in Talahassee and visited with a friend. Headed out around noon. Bike was running pretty good, just weeping a little oil around the gaskets. Got to Ocala around 4:00pm. There were races at Volusia this evening but the weather looked like rain towards Daytona. I didn't know if I wanted to chance riding over there just to have the races cancelled and then have to ride down to Davenport at night. I decided to head down to Wallaby Ranch in Davenport, where my brothers live. It started raining at Wildwood and it rained until I arrived at Wallaby Ranch about dark. They were having a birthday party for one of the ranch employees and I arrived just in time to get a medium-rare steak hot off the grill, with all the fixins', including some pretty decent wine. Went to my brothers trailer after dinner, unloaded the bike, and caught up on what's been happening with them. They've both become hangliding bums! They both live at Wallaby, one in a tent on a platform, and the other in a camper trailer. They help around the place to defray the cost of their hangliding. Sunday 03/04/07- Got up at 7:00am and went hangliding. WHAT A RUSH!!!!!!!!! Around 10:00am my youngest brother and I headed out to Volusia Speedway for some flat track racing. The races Saturday HAD been cancelled due to rain and it was taking them longer to get the track prepped than they planned on. Racing started around 4:00pm, feature race finished at around 9:30. Temps had dropped into the low 40's, one of the guys from the ranch had a condo at Flagler Beach and told my brother he could use it anytime he wanted to, soooooooooo, we spent the night there instead of riding 80mi. back to Wallaby. Monday 03/05/07- Headed to the Speedway around 8:00am. Stopped at the Jam-On swap meet to get a mirror (mine fell off just South of Perry on the way down). Swap meet was smaller than in previous years. Spent the day watching the vintage races at the Speedway. Springsteen won the Formula 750 race by over 1/2mi. on an XR-750. That sucker sounded really sweet at speed. Headed back to Wallaby around 5:00.pm.

Deuce taillight prob

Just got through painting the tins and repairing an `02 Deuce. I got a prob with the taillight. I bought a pack of 2 GE 1157s. When I turn on the taillight it will burn for just a few seconds then burn out. It discolors the inside of the bulb glass almost like it was getting too many volts. My first thought was I had a pinched wire or short. If that was so, it should be blowing circuits....right? Any ideas would be appreciated. It`s the little/simple stuff that will drive you up a wall.

Help on best way to sell a T-shirt collection

My friend asked me to sell her deceased husband's huge collection of Harley t-shirts on EBay. My problem is what is the best way to approach this. There are 500-600 shirts from cities all over the world, all new, no 2 alike. Should I list it as one collection or should I break the collection up? If I break it up, how? I know absolutely nothing about Harley collectors' interests. I welcome your input!

Spark Knock and Bad Fuel availability!!

I know this subject is targeted more for the riders of older bikes, as I'm well aware that newer bikes with EFI may have anti-knock sensors that eliminate or reduce the problem. However, I also know that my friend's '03 Road King has EFI, and he is now developing a Spark Knock problem....so perhaps the intended audience will be expanded over the summer. I have 2 HDs...both very similar, but one is virtually free of any spark knock and the other is plagued with it. Both are TC88 motors bored out to 95 CID, and both are carburated. Both have the Screamin' Eagle Ignition Module, both have 2-into-1 exhausts, and both are 'cam'd'. One is an "A" motor on my '00 Dyna (which has NO spark knock) and the other is a "B" motor on my '01 Fatboy. Needless to say, they both get the same gas from the same pump. So, why does one bike perform so differently from the other? Let me just say that I've had this 'discussion' with countless Harley experts, and the opinions are as diverse as the individuals themselves. But...before getting into the 'bike' issue.....let me mention fuel itself. This is a problem that's been around for years, and in some areas it's not getting any better. We're now being faced with all kinds of processes that add oxidizers, detergents, lubricants, and the other day I saw some kind of new 'Technium' additive that really seemed like nothing more than a new way to market the gas. But, the bottom line is that "FUEL" is FULL of additives that can affect this problem. Especially if you get a fuel that has a high level of alcohol incorporated into the mix. So, BEWARE of what's coming out of the pump!! As to the bikes......I can only say that I've dealt with this problem for two summers now....and as I see the temps getting warmer, I'm now starting to hear that classic rattle more frequently. I fear the day when I go to accelerate around a car and I drop a piston from detonation erosion. I may have to pull the heads of my motor just to check my pistons before another summer of riding. But, I am interested in any and every posting that gets submitted....and I hope to learn from them. I've been takin' apart motorcycle engines for nearly 50 years now......but I know I've got plenty to learn! So, any ideas or suggestions....please let me know. Thanks for reading this!! WC

Ultima 65mm Inverted Fork Problems

Just wanted to issue a warning to ebayers intending to purchase or sell Ultima's new 65mm inverted front ends. As a retailer of this product, I think it is very important that everyone is aware of a potentially dangerous situation. I recently sold and installed a set of these forks. Upon installation, I noticed a MAJOR design flaw in the axle and axle retaining portion of the forks. The design will allow the axle to slide from side to side if any heavy side loads are applied, i.e. high speed cornering. I noticed this problem and brought it to the attention of the manufacturer. I was told an "engineer" would be in contact with me to discuss the problem. No return call. I contacted them a second time and got the same answer. Still, no return call. I thought I found a way to prevent the problem and naively installed the forks anyway. About 75 miles after the bike left, the wheel walked to the left and locked up the wheel and caused a crash. I am now in a huge mess over this, and while I am taking full responsibility over what happened, I am very angry that the manufacturer has yet to contact me about the problem. The short of this is, until Ultima fixes the problem, be aware of the potential dangers here. As a retailer, you could be named in a lawsuit. As a consumer, you could end up with serious injuries or even death. Sorry to be a downer, but I just want to see everyone safe. Keep the rubber side down.

1965 Cushman Spec -- Need info, please

Hello, all. My husband passed away recently and he was an avid Cushman buff. I have a 1965 black Cushman that hubby said didn't work. It has been sitting for a long time and it also has both tires flat. The machine looks to be in good condition (body wise) and I'm not sure what doesn't work. He probably bought it to refurbish it and never got around to it. You should have seen some of the old Cushman's he did refurbish -- they caught everyone's eye, that's for sure. My question is: Do you think this machine has any value to the collectors? Would it be better to sell it "As Is For Parts"?? I can't take a pic of it right now because it is wedged in a corner and it has stuff in front of it. It is very heavy so I'll have to wait for help to move it and get a pic. Any information you give me will be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Dar S

Red Barron Choppers

For those of you that are thinking about buying a Red Barron/DHC frame from ebay. STOP. And read the disscussion below. Not only have I had horrible experience with them, they have bad reviews posted all over the internet. Here is my experience. I had a similar problem with DHC. I bought a frame (Switchblade 250) off eBay around the same time as you did and it took over 7 weeks to get it. No updates or anything from DHC/Red Barron. They are one of the companies that will take your money first and then build the part. I have had noting but problems with the frame. I have had to cut the frame to get the engine to fit. I had to cut the upper motor mount to get the Engine to fit. It doesn't come with axle stops, so I ordered some from them so I could weld them on, and they sent me galvanized hex bolts to weld on the frame. Most recently, and the reason I have posted this is that I went to install a set of forward controls and the left side tapped holes are off center for the controls to mount. I tried both a set of PM controls, and a set of Hammer Customs (Which by the way are excellent controls). I called DHC/Red Barron and Daniel Howe told me that they have been getting lots of calls about the same problem and that all aftermarket parts are not the same design, and that they can't make it to fit all. Everyone knows that this is a line of S**t. All 3-bolt configurations are the same. The holes that DHC drilled and tapped are just off enough to not work. DHC didn't offer to send a new plate to weld on. They told me to drill out the holes and bolt them on with nuts on the back. POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP. I would NOT Recommend this builder. They are seedy and inexperienced. When it comes down to it, they are an armature in a big boys business. They don't build quality products and offer poor customer service. DONT BUY FROM THIS BUILDER.

Misleading Sale of Item

"What can be done if an item is being sold on eBay and the seller is misleading the bidders with false information !! Example: A vehicle is for sale, the seller says it was wet but not under water! After researching the vehicle in question, I find that it was in a fire and totalled by an insurance company. The seller goes on to say that it was a little rusty, (so he powdercoated it)whereas, the pics from the insurance sale reveal a burned up vehicle. I have proof of the insurance sale. I just know that this is misleading and don't want to see anyone get hurt with the said vehicle." This is on a motorcycle frame that got really toasted. You and I both know what heat does to a frame. Let me know what I can do to keep this sly seller from profiting on something dangerous.

Original Harley tank, copy or other?

Hello I just picked up this gas tank, my neighbors seem to think it's for a Harley. Is it? and is it original? Is it the original decal and stripping? the Harley decal looks applied. Is it possible to date it?. Sorry for my ignorance, I'm not very knowledgeable on Harley parts. I guess I'm trying to get info so that I can describe for the listing. It looks to be in very good condition. Overall length 18" (including mounting tabs). x 9 1/2" wide. Tunnel measures 1 3/4" wide

MSF Class

Chicago-Elston/DMV: I'd like to talk with people who have taken the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF)class. What was your experience (good or bad)? Please indicate what city/location you took the course. As you can see I took mine in Chicago and although I enjoyed the course I had a horrible rider/instructor experience. Perhaps your stories will encourage me. I'll share it once I hear from readers. Thanks!

Cold weather riding gear

Hi all! 20 years ago or so I had my jacket lined with a great, quilted, extremely warm fabric. Unfortunately, although always toasty, it made my jacket bulky and rather stiff. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas with today's technology and new cold weather fabrics, what I should use to have it relined? I'm thinking there might be some skiers, climbers, boarders, and all-weather riders who might have something that works for them in extremely cold temps. Thanks for your suggestions!

Sportster Help!

I know this is probably old hat to a gazillion people, but... I have a 96 Sportster that is in need of a front end rebuild-repair-replacement (39 mm tubes and seals, at least). What front ends are exact replacements? What front end parts are interchangable? Is the only determining issue the stem diameter?

Shipping motorcycles

I recently made my first eBay motorcycle purchase. I arranged for Daily Direct to pick it up and deliver it to a local dealer. The price seemed fair enough. The communication has been lousy and the process has been terribly slow. I don't want to slam these folks as they may be a perfectly good company, but I'm a little taken aback at how slow it is and was curious about what other folks were doing about shipping motorcycles long distances. Thanx.

Honda 1981 CB650 Custom starter clutch question

I just bought one of these bikes and the only problem, aside from needing a new chain and normal wear and tear, is the starter clutch. We opened her up and it just flat-out needs replacing. I keep finding them all over the place for cb750s, but wonder if those will fit mine. Some parts, I know, are interchangeable. Is this one? If not, any ideas as to where a cheap one is? A new 750 clutch is around $80, but a new 650 is around $140 or so. Seems like a big leap. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. New bike owner here and fishing for knowledge. Thanks!

Selling a bike for someone else?

Hello to all you motorcycle enthusiats. I have a question for which I found no answer in the search pages. I have a close family member who wants to sell a motorcycle and asked if I could list it for him. I told him that I thought Ebay had a policy against that since it's not legally owned by me, the would-be seller. However, I scanned the search pages and found nothing specific. Can anyone point me to part of the user agreement/private policy that would address this question for me? Thanks in advance.

Dar S

I would like to tell others to be careful when using this man and his services, he does not seem to care about anothers time money and effort, I learned the hard way not to mention eight hours of driving.

BEWARE OF DAS!!! (Dependable Auto Shippers)

Based on ebay's recommendation, I arranged to ship a vehicle I purchased using DAS ("Dependable" Auto Shippers). I am writing to warn everyone that DAS is not only UNdependable, but also downright dishonest and completely unresponsive, and I think that ebay should stop recommending them. I knew that I would be going out of town soon, so I paid the extra money for DAS' "expedited" service, and in return they promised me that the car would be delivered within 10 days. But by using DAS' online tracking system, I noticed that the car wasn't moving anywhere. I tried calling DAS customer service, but I just got the runaround. Finally, after 6 days, they admitted that the car would not arrive on time. But it wasn't just a matter of being one or two days late. They now said that it would arrive 10 days late, double the time of their original estimate! I tried to speak to a supervisor, but despite numerous calls and messages left, I still haven't been able to speak to one. I just continue to get the runaround! Now, the car is scheduled to arrive when I will be out of town, and I have no idea what to do. There are plenty of other auto shippers out there, so take my advice and use one of them instead! I just wonder what ebay gets out of this deal that they keep recommending DAS.

How/Why does an item for sale totally disappear

I was the high bidder on a motorcycle and the reserve had been met. About 12 hrs. before the auction ended, it totally disappeared from the listings and there was no info in my bid history either. I'll post the links: Again if anyone can help that would be great. She also has some leather chaps and another jacket, but none of those are HD and are in not pristine condition. engine bogs down

A 1974 Honda XL70 - just had a new carb kit put in - starts and idles fine- but when in neutral, if you open the throttle quickly it bogs down and stops running - when in neutral, if you open the throttle up 3 times or so, but not with a quick snap, then the 4th time and thereafter you can "snap accelerate" it without a miss or hesitation - the idle and air mixture are adjusted correctly - so what do you think? Thanks for your help, Dave

Need help diagnosing problem w/ 1995 cr 250 PLEEEAASE!!

Ok so I bought an older bike off ebay and drove 6 hours to pick it up. I bought an older 1 so I could learn how to do some work on it. It started and ran fine w/ the exception of the kick started slipping every other kick. Anyway, the neighbor took off the carborator to "show me" all about it. He also showed me how to check the plug to see if the bike is running to lean/rich or just right. Of course it was to rich, why should it be ok. lol.. Anyway.. he moved the ring up 1 on the pin and I have had trouble getting it to stay started ever since. I put the ring back where it was and just adjusted the "screw" for the air mixture on the carberator to try to lean it out a bit. However, I still cannot get it to stay started. It will turn over and start once and then I have to clean off the spark plug and put it back and then It will start once again and then die and I have to clean the plug again before it will fire. I thought raising the ring was supposed to lean it out but it seams that I am flooding it all out.. When I picked it up the guy said he doesn't choke it to start it.. he just kicks it over 4=5 times and it is good to go. I'm not sure but there is probably a reason he didn't choke it. Either way I would like to make everything staight on the bike and I would like to do it myself. I live in albuquerque, NM and the altitude is around 4000 I believe. Anyway taking that into consideration. PLEASE HELP I have the clymers manual and am reading through it but I would love some help and advice if anyone had any. Thanks so much. ps. any help with the slipping kick starter would be cool too.
