The HairPin Flower Frog

This is one of the coolest vintage flower frogs you can collect. This is the story of the HAIRPIN. Continuing the search for the perfect flower arranger, people were interested in the success story of Ida Sinclair of Cuyahogo Falls, Ohio. Ida continued to win blue ribbons for her flower arrangements at the state and local fairs. When asked what was her secret she pointed to the creation holding her arrangement: a lead base circle with inserted but bent "bobby pins." The success story goes on as people encouraged Ida to patent this wonder. She did in 1936 and opened her own business The Blue Ribbon Flower Holder Co. In 1959 Dorothy Biddle Service of Hawthorne, NY purchased the gepany. The business moved to Greeley, PA. The Dorothy Biddle Service is still in business but I don't know if the HairPin Flower Holder is still being produced. You can find the vintage ones in sizes 0 to 6. The bottom will have the name of the gepany and Cuyahoga Falls, O or Hawthorne, NY or the more recent ones Greeley, PA.
